Royal Easter Show

With a massive line-up of entertainment, circus acts, rides and exhibits, plus an A&P Show that's been running for more than 160 years, the Royal Easter Show has a special place in the hearts and minds of many New Zealanders.
This year is no exception, with free entry for the public, the return of the big rides from Mahons Amusements, three huge pavilions of prize-winning livestock and five full days of amazing entertainment! Visitors can literally go from feeding the lambs, to screaming their lungs out on a huge ride, to dancing along to a fantastic musical performance, all in less than an hour!
An essential feature of the Royal Easter Show, the celebrated Zirka Circus, returns with eight shows a day that will have the audience on the edge of their seats. Their death-defying feats of skill and strength have to be seen to be believed. Another crowd-pleaser, the New Zealand Strongman competition, is always a favourite, with competitors winning over the crowd with their amazing efforts.
Bigger and better this year is the popular marketplace, with products to buy and demonstrations to watch; and New Zealand’s largest art competition is also a draw-card, with artworks to admire, of every type and genre.
Mahons Amusements bring the big rides to the Easter Show, and this year the Turbo Boost, Scream Machine, Gravitron and other favourites return to get the adrenalin pumping for the big kids, while at the other end of the scale, the Cookie-Bear rides bring smiles to the faces of the little ones and their parents.
The 2016 Royal Easter Show will have its very own ice-skating rink, so jump into the magical winter wonderland and show off your moves! A variety of free entertainment for the whole family can also be enjoyed on the main stage - from watching Dorothy find the Wizard of Oz to being mind-blown by the FMX riders, with many other exciting acts in between!
Do you think you've got what it takes to survive a zombie apocalypse? Put your skills to the test at the Zombie Survival Challenge - the Zombie Urban Escape! It's a family-friendly experience during the day, but when night falls it's survival of the fittest - and the bravest!
And back where it all began many years ago, the A&P Show is still a traditional favourite, and has to be seen to be believed; with a grandstand for the sheep-shearing, prize-winning bulls the size of small cars and interactive exhibits of all kinds for young and old. Fireworks displays close the event each night, lighting up the sky above the ASB Showgrounds, and for kilometres around. The Royal Easter Show - proudly supported by Streets - is New Zealand's largest and most loved family show, an annual must-see for young, old and the young-at-heart.
