Summer Fun & Music - Howick Historical Village
Howick Historical Village is an open-air museum showing what an early settler village was like in the mid to late 1800s in Auckland. This summer there is a range of events for all Aucklanders including live jazz evenings, 'Step Back in Time' workshops, an artist residency, children's adventure trail and village tours.
-Enjoy an evening picnic and live jazz at one of our three Summer Soirée evenings.
-Join a workshop and learn the crafts and skills that shaped the 1800s. Options include bee propagating, baking, book binding, composting, basket or blanket crochet, flower arranging, macramé, a pollinators & plants talk, photography, rag rug making and watercolour painting.
-Artist Toni Mosley will be drawing, screen printing and printing during the summer as well as running two free drawing workshops for kids and adults. At the end of the residency she will exhibit her artworks alongside the objects from the village that have inspired her.
-A free children's adventure trail is the perfect escape for curious children. Discover the food, plants and knowledge that M?ori and early settlers would have used. Finish the trail to discover something magical at the bottom of the garden.
-Village tours let you experience what life would have been like during the mid 1800s in Auckland. Tours run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11am, and daily from 1-10 January 2021. Tours are included with admission ticket.
-Purchase an ‘Exploring Auckland and the Past - Historic Auckland Pass’ and tour Howick Historical Village and Alberton, Ewelme Cottage or Highwic House with the one pass. Passes are valid for one month after purchase and give visitors the option to visit two historic sites at leisure.
