Birkenhead's historic oldest street

Take a short ferry ride from the central city to Birkenhead, and visit one of the Auckland Historic Places. Walk from the city's first working wharf up to Birkenhead Village at the top, discovering history along your route. This the original entry to the village [Hinemoa Street, formerly known as Hauraki Road] and is flanked by two churches - All Saints and St Andrews. The walk meanders for approximately 2km and takes approx. 35 minutes.
